2837368 - Password restriction considerations when using external authentication with an LDAP server and client tools like DBISQL - SAP IQ

Symptom

  • SAP IQ  login IDs that are enabled to use LDAP external user authentication  may have LDAP synchronised passwords  that do not comply with SAP IQ password restrictions.

  • SAP IQ security functionality is unable to enforce SAP IQ password restrictions for LDAP passwords as they are presented in an encrypted format.

  • LDAP passwords containing restricted characters like semicolons ; can end up being stored as valid passwords in the SAP IQ system table.

  • DBISQL client connections to SAP IQ using a password containing a restricted semicolon character will fail with an invalid user ID or password error.
