2838244 - Can a job requisition field be required only at certain stages of the job requisition? - Recruiting Management

Symptom

  • Can a job requisition field be made required only in the pre-approved and not the approved state and vice-versa?
  • Can a job requisition field be made required only to certain users and not to others?
  • Can a job requisition field be made required depending on country of job requisition selected?

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Management

Resolution

  • It's not possible to make a field required only at a certain point/stage of job requisition. A field, when defined as required="true", will always be required.

  • It's not possible to make a field required to certain users or roles only. There's no option to define which role the requisition fields will be required and for whom they won't.
    • Possible workaround: If a field should not be required for the Recruiter role in the pre-approved state, one workaround is to remove the Recruiter’s permission to edit that field.

When a role does not have edit permission for a field, the system treats the field as not required for that role. This allows recruiters to move forward without completing the field. They will still be able to view the field, but the asterisk (*) indicating that it is required will no longer appear.

For users who do have permission to edit the field, the field will remain required, and they will not be able to proceed until it is completed.

  • It's not possible to make fields mandatory depending on the country selected in the job requisition. There's currently no configuration available to achieve this.

    • Possible workaround: For instance, if the requirement is to make a field mandatory for US requisitions but optional for requisitions in other countries, a possible workaround is to use separate Job Requisition Templates.

A dedicated Job Requisition Template can be created for US requisitions where the field is configured with required="true", while a separate template for other countries can have the field configured with required="false"
