Symptom

  • A problem is experienced in the Crystal Reports client tool

Environment

  • SAP Crystal Reports (CR)
  • Windows

Resolution

To trace the Crystal Reports Client tool, follow the below steps:

  1. Navigate to INSTALLDIR\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\conf
  2. Make a copy of the BO_trace.ini
  3. Navigate to INSTALLDIR\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\win32_x86
  4. Paste the BO_trace.ini file to this location
  5. Rename the BO_trace.ini to crw32_trace.ini
  6. Edit the crw32_trace.ini as follows:

    Under the 'overrides' section, change the values for keep_num and append as follows:
    append = false;
    keep_num = 100;

    Under the 'trace syntax and setting' section, change the values for sap_trace_level and sap_log_level as follows:
    sap_trace_level = trace_debug;
    sap_log_level = log_info;

  7. Save the file
  8. Restart the Crystal Reports Client Tool
  9. Reproduce the problematic workflow
  10. Collect the logs, which will exist in the INSTALLDIR\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\logging folder

Don't forget to reverse the steps to disable the logging
