2843689 - Segment Level Reporting - Financial Statement

Symptom

You have selected the Segment which is at the higher level and there are many segments under it in the Org Structure.  Your expectation is that the when the Segment which is at the higher level is selected the data should also show details of child segments and the transaction data of it.

Environment

SAP Business Bydesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the General Ledger work center.
  2. Reports > List > Financial Statements
  3. Fill the basic details like company, set of book, fiscal year, Financial reporting Structure, Balance Sheet type and the segments.
  4. Click on Go.

The results are not as per your expectation.

Resolution

How Segment Reporting will not work

You expect if a higher level Segment is selected, then all child segment balances must be shown.
For eg. if SEG1 is selected, then all underlying Segment SEG2, SEG3 balances must be shown.

To explain this, firstly, there is no hierarchy in Segments. Hierarchy is maintained only at Profit Center and cost center levels.
Segments are derived based on the Profit Center. The hierarchical balance can already be seen by selection of Profit Center.
