2845380 - Additional Address Line Removes P.O. Box Information

Symptom

You want to add additional company information (like Finance Department) to an account with a P.O. Box address. You therefore maintain this information in an additional Address Line. But after saving your change, the original information like P.O Box or Postal Code is not available anymore on header level.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Account Management work center
  2. Select Accounts view
  3. Search for the relevant account
  4. The account is visible with P.O. Box related address information
  5. Select the account
  6. Select Edit > Addresses
  7. Beside the mandatory fields Postal Code/City, also P.O. Box related fields like P.O. Box, P.O. Box Postal Code or P.O. Box City are filled
  8. Select Additional Fields
  9. Maintain your information in Address Line 1, 2, 4 or 5
  10. Select OK and Save
  11. Go back to Accounts view
  12. The P.O. Box related address information is not visible anymore
  13. Also related documents like invoices show incorrect address information

Cause

This is the expected system behavior.

The system differentiates between physical address and P.O. Box address.

  • Attributes like the following are classified as P.O. Box address: P.O. Box, P.O. Box-Postal Code and City... In case you maintain only attributes that are classified as P.O. Box address, a P.O. Box address format will be effective. In such a case, the P.O. address is relevant for related documents like invoices.
  • Attributes like the following are classified as physical address: Street, House Number, Street Postal Code and City ... As soon as you maintain attributes that are classified as physical address, a physical address format will be effective. In such a case, the P.O. address is not relevant anymore for related documents.

Attributes in Address Line 1, 2, 4 or 5 are always classified as part of a physical address. Entries here will change the format to a physical address. As soon as an entry in such an line is found, the P.O. address information is not relevant anymore

Resolution

When using a P.O. Box address, all company information needs to be part of the company name.
