2845518 - "Start Course" vs. "Assign to Me" buttons

Symptom

What's the difference between the "Start Course" and "Assign to Me" buttons?

Environment

SAP SuccessFactors Learning

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Search for courses in the library >
  2. Some courses display "Start Course", while some display "Assign to Me".

Resolution

As per the Learning Engineering team, the button is displayed based on the course type and status. "Start Course" will assign the item to the learning plan and launch it as well. "Assign to me" will assign the item to the learning plan.

"Start Course" is displayed as a primary action so that the users don't have to take multiple steps to start the course.

"Assign to Me", on the other hand, works with ILT (Instructor-Led) courses with classes.
