2846678 - Demand Plan With Incorrect UoM does not Display an error During Save.

Symptom

Product PROD1(where PROD1 is the product ID) is used as Input Product for In house produced product.

In the Demand Plan PLAN1(PLAN1 is the Demand Plan ID) the Multi Level Planning Enabled is set and the Demand Plan UoM is UoM1.
You do not have a quantity conversion maintained for product PROD1 with UoM UoM1, so you expect an error message when saving the Demand Plan.
However the Demand Plan is saved successfully.

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Demand Planning work center.
  2. Select Demand Plans view.
  3. Find the Demand Plan PLAN1.
  4. Select the Demand Plan PLAN1.
  5. Select Edit.
  6. Notice that the Demand Plan UoM used here is UoM1. 

Cause

Demand Plan PLAN1 contains product PROD1.

Error is not expected when saving the Demand Plan PLAN1 even if quantity conversion is not maintained.

However when you run planning for the product PROD1, system may throw required error message.

Resolution

System is working as designed.
