2846931 - HANA Basic How-To Series - HANA and SSL / TLS - establishing a secured ODBC/JDBC connection using HANA Studio fails with a reply of the IP Address instead of DNS

Symptom

This KBA is part of the HANA Basic How-To Series and will talk about a few common issues when connecting HANA Studio via SSL / TLS to the HANA Database. HANA Studio is a good example to see if secured connections to the HANA Database will work properly. This can be used as basis to say ABAP, or HANA 2 Cockpit connections will work in a secured connection as well.

When registering a HANA System within HANA Studio is not working you can have a look into the Log file.

It can be opened by the Menu "Help" -> "About HANA Studio" -> "Installation Details" -> Tab: "Configuration" , then "View Error Log"

Sample Problem: A HANA Database shall be registered in HANA Studio using the certificate common name CN= "hana1-122.home.aksnet.com", but it fails with a reply of the IP Address as documented in the Log.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
