2847690 - Change Document Type After An Object Is Created

You want to change the document/ processing type of an object after its creation.

Prerequisite: The system has a minimum of two existing Document types for the object. In our example we are looking at the BO Opportunities - the same is true for other objects. In our example we refer to document types OPPT and ZOPT, where OPPT represents the standard Opportunity Document Type and ZOPT represents the Custom configured Document type.

1. Navigate to Sales Work Center.
2. Go to the Opportunities Work Center View.
3. Click New.
4. Select Standard Opportunity Document Type OPPT to create a new opportunity.
5. Click Save.
6. Opportunity XYZ is created, where XYZ represents the Opportunity ID.
7. Edit Opportunity XYZ to change the opportunity document type OPPT to another Opportunity Document Type ZOPT, where ZOPT is another opportunity document type.

Opportunity Document type OPPT of an opportunity XYZ once saved, cannot be changed to Other Opportunity Document Type ZOPT within tenant.

Once saved, the document type cannot be changed into another document type.

The specific Document Type sets the behaviour of the object. This cannot be changed to another Document Type after object creation. This is expected system behaviour.
