Symptom
You want to know why the system is not considering Leading Zeros when creating Identified Stock IDs either via manually or migration.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Either go to the Warehousing and Logistics Master Data work center or Planning and Production Master Data workcenter.
- Go to the Common Tasks view.
- Choose the New Identified Stock sub view.
- Enter all the required details.
- Now enter Identified Stock ID manually starting with Leading Zero + Numeric Value for example:- 01234 ( i.e. here 01234 is an identified stock ID)
- Perform Save.
- Here you find that system saves Identified Stock ID as 1234 instead of 01234. ( i.e. here 01234 and 1234 are an identified stock ID)
Cause
The system does not consider leading 0 with Numeric ID. It only considers when there is Alphanumeric ID for any master data document i.e. Leading zero+ Numbers + Letters.
For example: 01234AB. (i.e. here 01234AB is an Identified Stock ID)
Resolution
- Either go to the Warehousing and Logistics Master Data work center or Planning and Production Master Data work center.
- Go to the Common Tasks view.
- Choose the New Identified Stock subview.
- Enter all the required details.
- Now enter Identified Stock ID manually with Alphanumeric ID for example:-01234AB. (i.e. here 01234AB is an Identified Stock ID)
- Perform Save.
- Now, the system generates Identified Stock ID with Leading Zero correctly.
