2853893 - "An error occurred while retrieving the data locks for the visible cells" occurs when opening a story in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC)

The following error occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) when opening a story or input task with data locking enabled in a Planning (type) model:

• An error occurred while retrieving the data locks for the visible cells

The additional message "Not possible to enter values on unbooked cells" may occur randomly.

The browser developer tools (CTRL_Shift+I) will also show the following error:

• "You are not authorized to Read Data Locking ."messageId: "UNAUTHORIZED"

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise)

Open an existing input form or story referencing a model which has at least one dimension with Data Locking active

• This error occurs because the role assigned to the user does not have at minimum Read rights on Data Locking.
• Because of this the retrieval of the current data locking status for the data fails.
• This does not block the input or publishing of data as the status of the data lock will still be validated by the application at the time of publishing.

If data locking is active for any dimensions in a model then any user who is viewing a story or input task story for that model needs to have at least the minimum Read rights on Data Locking in the role or roles assigned to their user ID.
