2857670 - Error: "The deletion is not possible. Product category XXX is used at least by YYY"

When trying to delete product categories or product subcategories, the following error occurs:

"The deletion is not possible. Product category XXX is used at least by YYY" (where XXX represents the product category and YYY represents a  document like purchase order or supplier invoice).

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Product Data work center
2. Select Product Categories view
3. Select the relevant Product Category ID
4. Click the Maintain Product Categories button
5. Uncheck the box Product Assignment Allowed for the specific product category
6. Click Actions button and choose Delete
7. Error: "The deletion is not possible. Product category XXX is used at least by YYY"

The product category is already in use by another document.

It is not possible to delete any product category that is or was already in use in the system, regardless of the current status of the document. This is the designed system behavior.
