2861208 - Not Possible to Add Child Opportunity to Opportunity Hierarchy

You are trying to add the opportunity ABC as a child opportunity of opportunity DEF, but you are receiving the error message "The entered reference to Opportunity with ID ABC already exists.". (ABC and DEF represents the Opportunity ID).

SAP Cloud for Customer

1. Go to the Sales work center.
2. Go to the Opportunities view.
3. Open opportunity DEF.
4. Go to the Hierarchy view.
5. Select the parent opportunity.
6. Click on Add.
7. Select the opportunity ABC.
8. Click on Add.
9. The error message "The entered reference to Opportunity with ID ABC already exists." is raised and you cannot save.

Opportunity ABC is predecessor of opportunity DEF. You can check in the Document Flow view of opportunity DEF that opportunity ABC is predecessor.

This is the expected system behavior.

An opportunity cannot be predecessor and child at the same time. Therefore, you cannot add opportunity ABC on the Hierarchy view.
