• Metadata framework (MDF)

1. Go in Admin Center > Search for Picklist Center and click in the plus symbol to create a new picklist;

2.  In the next page you should fill the fields, including Parent Picklist field, placing the Parent Picklist Code and click on Save:

In our example below, the Parent Picklist is country.

3. Also, it is very important that the both picklist, child and parent, have the same Effective Start Date:

If the new picklist (in our example Test_parent) does not have the same Effective Start Date, you can clink on Edit and change this value.

4. Now in the new Picklist created, you can add the new values (External Codes) by clicking Plus Symbol:

5. Filling the fields External Code, Label and Parent Picklist Value:

6. In Select: Parent Picklist Value search for the value you would like to assign with the External Code Test01. In this case, we are selecting the value India that is the External Code from country Picklist (the parent picklist). Select the value > Click on Go > Select the value in the table below and click in Create:

7. The new picklist (Test01) will be similar like below:
