2862414 - Failed to open a socket/Too many open files : SCC error

Symptom

Application deployed on the SAP Cloud Platform (SCP) fails to load and the below error is populated in the SAP Cloud Connector trace ljs_trace.log (<2.17)/scc_core.trc (>=2.17):


   #Unable to open connection to backend system: Unable to create Channel from class class io.netty.channel.socket.nio.NioSocketChannel   
   io.netty.channel.ChannelException: Unable to create Channel from class class io.netty.channel.socket.nio.NioSocketChannel
   Caused by: java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException
   Caused by: io.netty.channel.ChannelException: Failed to open a socket.
   Caused by: java.net.SocketException: Too many open files
