In the Q4 2019 release documentation, there is an improvement of which there is no information. It is the following:   ECT-83130 Manager Cycle Validation (Himself Manager)   Could you please offer us some information about it?

SAP SuccessFactors - Employee Central

This is related to an issue fix.

From User Interface we cannot make someone manager of himeself/herself.
But for a particular scenario the system allowed the manager cycle creation.

Example:

• One Manager is having 3 direct reports.
• Now we try to terminate the manager and while termination action we change the manager's supervisor as one of the direct report.
• The termination action moves all the direct reports to this new manager.
• Hence, one of the direct report now becomes himself's manager. Which creates manager cycle.

This engineering ticket provided a fix for this issue to prevent manager cycle while termination scenario.
