Symptom
The Internal Comment and Sales Data for an Item changes when changing the Sales Organization and/or Distribution Channel in a Sales Document.
Environment
SAP Business ByDesign
Reproducing the Issue
This applies to all Sales Documents and we will use Sales Quotes as an example.
- Go to the New Business work center.
- Select the Sales Quote view.
- Open Sales Quote XYZ (XYZ represents the ID of the sales quote).
- Navigate to the Items tab.
- Select Line Item XX (XX represents the line item number).
- Navigate to the Notes sub tab.
- Enter a text in the Customer Information and the Sales Notes.
- Navigate to the General tab.
- Change the Sales Unit to a different one.
- Navigate again to the Items tab.
- Select Line Item XX (XX represents the line item number).
- Navigate to the Notes sub tab.
You can see that the text you entered either disappeared or is filled with a different text.
Cause
The reason why the text changes or is deleted is due to the fact that the Internal Comments and Sales Notes on Item level are determined via the Product/Service Master Data.
The Internal Comments and Sales Notes can be maintained in the Sales tab of the Master Data for each Distribution Chain (Sales Organization and Distribution Channel).
These can be overwritten in the respective Sales Document but when the Sales Organization in the Sales Document is changed the system determines the Product/Service Master Data newly and therefore also the Internal Comment and Sales Notes.
This is the expected System behavior.
Resolution
You can either maintain the respective text in the Product/Service Master data directly or you need to ensure that you enter the same text manually again after you changed the Sales Unit.
