2865430 - Error "Field XXXX doesn't exist" when saving Custom CDS View

Symptom

When saving the draft of a Custom CDS View, an error similar to the following is displayed:

Field XXXXXXXX doesn't exist. It is used in the properties for field YYYYYYYY

Environment

  • SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition
  • Custom CDS Views App

Resolution

  • As the error states, the field XXXXXXXX is used in the properties of field YYYYYYYY
  • One of two issues has occurred:
    1. The field XXXXXXXX was never selected as part of the Custom CDS View
      • To solve the issue, select XXXXXXXX and add it to the Custom CDS View
    2. Field XXXXXXXX has been selected but its alias is not what field YYYYYYYY is expecting
      • To solve the issue:
        1. go to the Field Properties tab of the Custom CDS View
        2. Select Field YYYYYYYY
        3. Update the Semantic Value of YYYYYYYY to be XXXXXXXX
