2869159 - ODBC: Test Connection button causesLogin failed message - SDK for SAP ASE

Symptom

  • The following ASE configuration parameters are set to 1.

log audit logon success = 1
log audit logon failure = 1

  • You start ODBC Administrator and open a data source, and then click "Test Connection" button. A popup window appears and you enter a correct password and click "OK", then login attempt is successful.
  • Even if Test Connection succeeds, you may notice the following messages in ASE errorlog.

Logon  Login failed : User xxx, Client IP address: 'xx.xx.xx.xx', Appname: odbcad32.exe, Progname: ODBC, Progversion: xx.x.x.xx, TdsVersion:5.0.0.0.
Logon  Login succeeded : User xxx, Client IP address: 'xx.xx.xx.xx', Appname: odbcad32.exe, Progname: ODBC, Progversion: xx.x.x.xx, TdsVersion:5.0.0.0.

  • If you configure sybsecurity database and audting and set login failure audit option, you may see audit records about login failure.
