2872806 - Invalid manager error when trying to change higher level position - Employee Central

When trying to change the higher level position for a specific position, you receive the following error appears:

"Sorry, an error occurred while transferring the employees assigned to the position to another manager. Your changes cannot be saved. Invalid manager (userId) for user (userId)"

• SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
• Position Management

1. Go to Position Org Chart | Manage Position
2. Select desired position
3. Click on to edit the position
4. Change the higher level position
5. Click on Save

Result: "Sorry, an error occurred while transferring the employees assigned to the position to another manager. Your changes cannot be saved. Invalid manager (userId) for user (userId)"

The job information of the incumbent of the changed position already have the incumbent of the higher level position as his manager, then the hierarchy adaption is unable to set the new manager.

Delete job information record before update the position with a new higher level position and the hierarchy adaptation will set the correct manager according the position hierarchy.
