2873386 - Segment and Profit Center Are Not Derived for Fixed Asset

Symptom

While creating a new Fixed Asset system throws an error that Segment and Profit Center do not belong to Cost Center.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to the Fixed Assets work center.
  2. Go to the New Fixed Assets view.
  3. Add Company.
  4. Add Fixed Asset Class.
  5. Select Assignment Type Cost Center.
  6. Add Cost Center.
  7. Add Valid From date.

Below errors occur:

Cost Center does not belong to segment on DD.MM.YYYY.

Cost Center does not belong to profit center on DD.MM.YYYY.

Cause

Scoping Element Profit Center and Segment Accounting is not in Scope. Even if your Set of Book is using Reporting Principles that include Profit Center and Segment Reporting if the Element is not in Scope the system is not able to derive the information and the error occurs.

Resolution

To correctly scope the Scoping Element use below steps:

  1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
  2. Go to the Implementation Projects view.
  3. Select the Implementation project.
  4. Select Edit Project Scope.
  5. Go to section 4 Questions.
  6. Select Financial and Management Accounting.
  7. Expand Financial and Management Accounting.
  8. Select General Ledger.
  9. Expand General Ledger.
  10. Select General Ledger.
  11. In Group Profit Center and Segment Accounting.
  12. Mark checkbox In Scope for 'You can create financial reports based on segments and profit centers'.
  13. Click Next.
  14. Review and click Finish.

After this is scoped the error will no longer occur when creation Fixed Assets.
