This article explains how the  [[IS_STEP_DUE_ON]] token behaves in the document routing notification.

Resolution

Where there is no due date in the route step, the [[IS_STEP_DUE_ON]] token writes the text ' is due on' followed by the form due date.

If the form due date is in the past, the token writes the text as 'was due on'.

Where there is a due date in the route step, the [[IS_STEP_DUE_ON]] token writes the date configured for the step.
