2876397 - ASE fails to connect to LDAPS server - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE cannot connect to LDAPS server when 3rd party tools can connect;
  • TDS trace shows the Active Directory is killing the connection;
  • Active Directory log shows "The client and server cannot communicate, because they do not possess a common algorithm";
  • Error message:

kernel LDAPUA: 'klbind': Aborting requests to directory server at 'ldap://ldaphost:636/' after 3 attempts. Error 'Can't contact LDAP server', (0xffffffff), Descriptor: 0. (Message repeated X times in the past X minutes).
kernel LDAPUA: User authentication request cannot be completed using LDAP at this time. (Message repeated X times in the past X minutes).
