Symptom
Changes to Manage Document Generation Template permissions are not behaving correctly.
Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central - Document Generation
Reproducing the Issue
1. Create a new Document Generation Template
2. Navigate to the Permission Role for which you want to provide permission to this new template
3. In the Permission Role navigate to Manage Document Generation Templates
4. Under Generate Documents -> Others select your newly created template
5. Save
6. Log out and back in for permission change to take effect
7. Find that for users with the permission role updated above that the new template is not available via Generate Document in ESS/MSS
Note: If you check the permission role it will show the new template is selected
Addtional Note: This issue may not occur if the newly created template does not have any mapped values
Resolution
Using Document Generation Template objects as effective dated objects is not recommended. It is recommended to keep only 1 record in document generation template.
- Make sure that the template has only one record.
- Create a copy of the template.
- Delete the original template(only if required).
- Update the template id, name, and locale of the copy so that it is exactly identical to the original in every way(only if required).
- Use this newly created copy to assign the permission.
