Symptom

SQL Anywhere considers the following two strings to be different:

'respect the trailing blanks   '
'respect the trailing blanks'


However other databases consider these two strings equal.
In other words, other databases ignores trailing blanks.
(Ultralite ignores trailing blanks like any other databases.)
