2879283 - No member is displayed when using 'Hide parents' in SAP Analytics Cloud for Planning (SAC)

Symptom

Hierarchy of dimension_A is as below

YY_JY

--YY_JY_YB

----YY_JY_DB

--------YY_JY_DB1

--------YY_JY_DB2

----YY_JY_HN

--------YY_JY_HN1

--------YY_JY_HN2

Hide parents switched on.

User A has read access to all members. User A creates a story with dimension filter dimension_A = YY_JY.

User B has read access to YY_JY_DB only.

When user B opens this story, he cannot see any data.

Environment

  • SAP Analytics Cloud

Cause

The behavior is correct.

"Hide parents" means data access control for master data. If now user B cannot see YY_JY and a filter is set on YY_JY, he cannot see anything.

Resolution

Instead of data access control for master data, you can use data access control for fact data (hide parents off) and then only the facts are filtered so that B could see the facts for YY_JY_DB, YY_JY_DB1 and YY_JY_DB2 with a filter on YY_JY.
