The Target Cost is showing zero in App Production Cost Analysis.

Two kinds of plan costs for order

There are 2 kinds of plan costs for Manufacturing Order.
One is Plan Cost, the other one is Standard Cost (header material cost estimate).

Target Costs for app Production Cost Analysis

The Target Costs for the order are calculated according to above 2 kinds of plan costs. So if plan costs are zero, Target Costs are zero too.
System will check whether there is released Standard Cost Estimate for the production material according to the Order Start Date (You can find it in the Order Master - General tab).

For app Production Cost Analysis, to improve application performance, the filter ‘plan category’ and the column ‘order standard cost’ are removed from the selection filter starting from SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition 2111. This affects target cost calculation results in the app as follows:
Target costs in this application are always calculated based on standard cost estimate (target cost version 0), this means:

• For MTS orders and MTO orders without valuation strategy, target costs are always calculated on material cost estimate.
• For MTO orders with valuation strategy, target costs are calculated in accordance with sales order valuation strategy in sequence of: Sales Order Costing; Order Plan Costs, Material Cost Estimate.

If you would like to check target cost based on order plan costs (target cost version 1), please use the published CDS view I_MfgOrderActlPlanTgtLdgrCost and C_MfgOrderActlPlnTgtLdgrCost instead and define parameter P_TargetCostVariant as ‘1’ to get the results.

Target Costs for app Display Production Order - Menu - More - Goto - Cost - Analysis

There is slight difference between the app Production Cost Analysis and Display Production Order:
For Display Production Order, it doesn't check the validity date for the material cost estimate.
Even for the creation date, there is not valid material cost estimate, system still will find material cost estimate in close date to show the target costs.

Different behavior with app Analyze Order

The app Analyze Order are almost the same as Display Production Order. Only if it is co-production order, you need to tick below flag on to show the values on order item level:
Menu - More - Settings - Order Items - On/Off
If you want to show values for all the items, you can keep the order item field blank.

Common reasons for zero target costs

• No Goods Receipt done.
• You have set parameter in display to restrict the display period, and in the period, there is no Goods Receipt.
• There is no valid Cost Estimate (Standard Cost Estimate or Sales Order Cost Estimate, according to the scenario).
• For Target Costs Credit, there should be Variance Calculation.
