Symptom
Understanding the different types of SF HCM Picklist Integration Type in Onboarding and what this is user for.
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Onboarding 1.0
Resolution
In Onboarding > Settings > Data Dictionary it is possible to create new Fields and associate different Types for this Field. This KBA comprehends the SF HCM Picklist type and its Integration Types available, such as:
Suite
The standard integration between SF Recruiting, Onboarding and Employee Central modules. The modules communicate with each other using system properties and no additional mapping configuration is required. This is the recommended option if you are not using an external ATS or HRIS.
- Key = Option ID
- Display Key = Default Label
- Ext Code Key = External_Code (This field should be mapped in Data Dictionary as string)
Code Based
Integration using the SF HCM picklist external codes (IDs) of the selectable values of the field. This option should be used only when an external ATS or an external HRIS is integrated with the Onboarding module. Customers can re-use any existing SF HCM picklist external code to integrate the external ATS, or HRIS with SF Onboarding.
- Key = External Code
- Display Key = Default Label
Label Based
Integration using the display text, also called labels, of the selectable values of the field. This option should be used only when an external ATS or an external HRIS is integrated with the SF Onboarding module and the modules CANNOT be integrated using the Code based integration. **This is NOT a recommended approach; this option is provided only for extreme cases where integration using external codes cannot be used.
- Locale = e.g. en_US
- Key = Label of set locale
- Display Key = Label
