2882515 - syb_write: gzwrite() msg=No Space left size hangs the ASE server - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • When a dump is done on a file system that is full using:

    dump database mydbl to "compress::1::/db.dmp"
    or with
    dump database mydb to "/db.dmp" with compression = 1
     
  • The signal 11 happens on the Backupserver: 

Backup Server: 4.124.2.1: Archive API error for device='compress::1::/backarea/mydb.dmp::006': Vendor application name=Compress API, Library version=1, API routine=syb_write(), Message=syb_write: gzwrite() msg=No Space left size=XXX returned=0

  • A simple reboot the backupserver, does not clear the resources on the ASE
  • Eventually, the ASE must be rebooted to free the resources
