2883642 - User Can View a Project Task in Time Sheet

Symptom

A User is able to view a project task ABC from Time Sheet when he is not assigned to this task.

He can therefore add an activity on it and record some time on it.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

The user is following this path:

  1. Work Center Home.
  2. Self Service overview.
  3. Select Time view.
  4. Edit Time Sheet.
  5. Click Manage my Work List.
  6. Click Add Work Package.

From here, the user is able to find the task ABC, even if he is not assigned to this project task.

Cause

According to which scenario has been followed, this is the normal system behavior.

Resolution

  • If an employee is added to the ‘Team & Staffing’ tab of the project, then it is possible that the employee can work on any task within the project.

In this case the ‘Manage My Work List’ from Time Sheet will show all the tasks of the project.

Also, if the employee clicks on ‘Add Work Package’, the tasks will also be visible.

  • If an employee is added to a specific task via the Work Tab for the Task on the project, then the employee is automatically assigned to the ‘Team & Staffing’ tab for the project.

In this case the ‘Manage My Work List’ from Time Sheet will show all the tasks of the project.

Also, if the employee clicks on ‘Add Work Package’, the tasks will also be visible.

  • If an employee is not assigned to a project but is required to work on the project, then the employee can add the project task and service directly onto Time Sheet and record times.

All times recorded in this manner will always require approval before being added to the project. ‘Manage My Work List’ and ‘Add Work Package’ do not show the tasks of the project.
