Symptom

  • SAP ASE on HADR
  • ASE error raised during boot-up cycle and hang:

Error: 840, Severity: 17, State: 2
Device 'sysprocsdev' (with physical name '/sybase/<SID>/sybsystem/sysprocs.dat', and virtual device number 1) has not been correctly activated at startup time. Please contact a user with System Administrator (SA) role.

Msg 926, Level 14, State 2:

Database 'sybsystemprocs' cannot be opened. An earlier attempt at recovery marked it 'suspect'. Check the ASE errorlog for information as to the cause
