Symptom
When enabling email in Global Variables the following popup warning appears:
"Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental."
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Learning
Reproducing the Issue
After a refresh process:
- Go to System Admin > Configuration > Global Variables > Mail tab
- Check enable email
- Warning pop up message appears: "The current SMTP email settings below are not valid and not the default support values. (...) with option "Yes" and "No".
Cause
Since b1911 release, SMTP settings are no longer be accessible from UI Global Variables page. System will now have default SMTP configured at node level as part of LMSInternalConfiguration.properties. This setting will have localhost as SMTP host by default and can be configured by Operations team.
- New customers/Customers without SMTP settings will start using the default SMTP host (localhost) from node level configuration when they enable the email job.
- Validations are implemented to differentiate the existing customer SMTP settings to check if they are valid or invalid and accordingly warning messages are shown to customers, to guide them to use the default SMTP settings further when they try to enable the email job.
Resolution
Click "Yes" to reset the SMTP settings to default and test if the notifications are correctly working.
Note: If using specific encryption settings applied needing to use specific SMTP gateway and accidentally chose to use SF default when enabling mail, inform SF Product Support of this KBA internal memo.
