Symptom
- Why the same job requisition is appearing in multiple job alert emails even if there were no changes performed in RCM?
- Why job alert emails have included job requisitions that do not match the location specified in the search (keyword + location)?
- How daily job alerts are scheduled to be sent by the system?
- Can alerts be consolidated
Environment
SAP SuccessFactors Recruiting Marketing (RMK)
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to a RMK site;
- Search for a job specifying a keywords and location;
- Create an daily alert.
The behavior is not clear how jobs are selected by the system and what's the frequency the system sends the job alert emails.
Resolution
Why is the same job requisition appearing in multiple job alert emails even if there were no changes performed in RCM?
Certain jobs that appeared on an earlier email appear in subsequent emails because the Reference Date is refreshed by the rolling process. When the reference date is refreshed, the job is treated as new and may be emailed to a user again even if they've already seen it. It should be noted that the Reference Date is updated every 28 days automatically by the RMK platform (see 2253054 - RMK job Date is different from RCM job Posting Date - Recruiting).
Why do job alert emails include job requisitions that do not match the location specified in the search (keyword + location)?
The reason why these job appeared in the email alerts is because the search type for this alert is 'r' (Radius) so it also includes relevant jobs within a 10-mile radius by default.
How are daily job alerts scheduled to be sent by the system?
In general daily emails should be sent roughly 24 hours from each other but looking at the timestamps you might see that there is some drift (10:42 AM => 10:54 AM => 11:58 AM => 1:20 PM) which could be due to email processing load on particular days in the system (say a large volume of emails are set to process weekly on Fridays - this could delay the processing of a normal daily email).
Can several alerts be consolidated into one email?
No. Each alert created will result in a separate email. See process to submit an enhancement request in see also section to have a consolidation option added.
