2888221 - Valuation type field is not available for selection in MM01 - SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Symptom

The valuation type field is not available for selection when creating a new material with transaction MM01.

Environment

SAP S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Open 'MM01' app.
  2. Enter the 'Material Number', 'Industry Sector' and 'Material Type'.
  3. Select the 'Accounting 1' view.
  4. The Valuation type field is not available for selection.
  5. Open 'MM01' app.
  6. Enter an existing already created 'Material number'.
  7. Select the 'Accounting 1' view.
  8. The Valuation type field is available for selection.

Cause

It is not possible to maintain the valuation type for a material without assigning the valuation category/class for the material.

Resolution

  • Maintain the valuation category/class on the Accounting 1 view.
  • Then again in open MM01 for the created material the system shows the valuation type field for selection.
