2889246 - Standard Application Field Being Automatically Filled - Recruiting Management

If a candidate is applying not for the first time to a Job Requisition, one or more standard fields from the Application Template are being automatically filled despite that the field is standalone (not configured in the Candidate Profile).

2. Apply to a Job Requistion with Candidate Profile that already apply to a similar position
3. Notice that some fields will be already be filled 

It’s known that the system will sync data from the Candidate Profile and the Job Application, if both Application and Candidate templates are using the same field ID for the fields. (2397128 - Synchronisation between Candidate Profile and Application - Recruiting Management). The system will always take in consideration, the most updated data to sync. If the candidate applies for the first time, the information from the Candidate Profile will be transferred to the Job Application. Later on, further Job Applications will be feeding the Candidate Profile with new information since the system will always considers this data, as the most updated.

This behavior will also happen even if you don’t have the standard field configured in the Candidate Profile, just on the Application Template.

When working with standard fields, it’s important to take in consideration that these fields are pre-defined in the database, therefore they will storage the information due to the sync behavior, despite if the field is or is not visible for a candidate or an operator.

In other words, when you have the standard field only configured in the Application Template, the system won’t fill the field when applying for the first time, since none is present on the “hidden” standard Candidate Profile field. After applying for the first time, the system will sync the information from the Application to the “hidden” Candidate Profile field. From now on, every time time the candidates applies to a job, the system will take the information from the “hidden” field in the Candidate Profile and it will fill into the Application Template field.

You can use a Custom Field with the same field-type to replace the Standard one, therefore the sync won't happen.
