2889742 - Data Validation issue with Scientific Notations from SAP HANA in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) & SAP Digital Boardroom

The following error message occurs in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC):

• The following columns contain data quality issues
• Validation has detected issues in your full dataset that cannot be solved automaticallly.

This issue occurs with a field that has a scientific notation i.e 445244345e7

• SAP Analytics Cloud (Enterprise) 2020.02
• SAP HANA

1. Click on the main menu -> click create model

2. Select SAP HANA from the connection list under Acquire data

3. Give the query a name and select the available view

4. Select all the available data in the query builder

5. After the model has been created look on the side navigation menu

6. Click on the 'Model Requirements' expansion panel

7. Look at the data quality tab and observe data quality issues

8. Click validate data at the bottom of the side navigation

SAP Analytics Cloud does not directly parse scientific notations via HANA

Workaround

In the SAP HANA Database model the data type for this field as decimal and not numerical.
