2890281 - Timeslice error in des_checkpoint() after Error 8211 - SAP ASE 16.0

Symptom

  • A timeslice error in the function des_checkpoint() is reported sometimes right after Error 8211, or a few days after Error 8211: 

    Error: 8211, Severity: 26, State: 1
    Mismatch found between the name and id descriptor hash table for table 'b2b_account_mapping', objid = 418266410. Descriptor hashed by name = 0x0 and hashed by id = 0x3562bf40.
    ...
    timeslice -501, current process infected at 0000000000D37BAC (des_checkpoint+ 0x741bdc)
    timeslice error: spid 837 exhausted its 'time slice' of 100 milliseconds and additional 'cpu grace time' of 500 ticks (50000 milliseconds). It has been marked for termination.

  • The timeslice error is followed by a stack trace with functions:

    checkpoint
    dmpx_truncatemain
    ckpt_process_dbs
    ckptworker

  • A Dbtable->dbt_defpipebufgpspin spinlock is left unleased which caused the ASE server to shut down:
