Symptom
- ASE crash due to sequence of
- Error 8211 "Mismatch found between the name and id descriptor hash table"
- Followed by a signal 11 or timeslice at address des_checkpoint, which may be seen immediately or hours after the 8211 error
- The spid hitting the timeslice is holding spinlock dbt_defpipebufgpspin
- ASE errorlog entries include:
- Error: 8211, Severity: 26, State: 1
Mismatch found between the name and id descriptor hash table for table 'b2b_account_mapping', objid = 418266410. Descriptor hashed by name = 0x0 and hashed by id = 0x3562bf40. - timeslice -501, current process infected at 0000000000D37BAC (des_checkpoint+ 0x741bdc)
or - Current process (0x53002a) infected with signal 11 (SIGSEGV)
Address 0x0x0000000001dcde7e (des_checkpoint+0x52e), siginfo (code, address) = (1, 0x0xfffffffffffffdd2) - The timeslice or signal 11 is followed by a stack trace which can vary but typically include some of the following:
des_checkpoint
checkpoint
dmpx_truncatemain
ckpt_process_dbs
ckptworker
des_checkpoint_flush_sysstats
sysstats_hk_flushstats - ASE crashes as the spid that hits the timeslice is holding spinlock dbt_defpipebufgpspin with log entries showing:
Spinlocks held by kpid 61407701
Spinlock Dbtable->dbt_defpipebufgpspin at address 0x000000015222c500 owned by 61407701 - Note: A complete stack trace example is available under Attachments, but other variations are possible.
