2893303 - Msg 4853, Level 16, State 1 during bulk copy when ASE has trace flag 4899 enabled - SAP ASE

Symptom

  • ASE trace flag 4899 is enable to perform additional row format validation for Bulk Copy (bcp) when rows are being inserted into an allpages lock scheme table using JDBC.
  • Error 4853 was raised when bcp into an allpages lock scheme table:
    Server Message: ase16 - Msg 4853, Level 16, State 1:
    Server has encountered badly formatted rows during bulk insert. The bulk client may be too old to format rows properly for this server version.
