2895791 - How to use Field Level Override just for higher level positions - Employee Central

Symptom

There is a requirement that the managers should not be able to see some fields in higher level position, but at same time they should be able to see same fields on their direct reports and them self positions.

Image/data in this KBA is from SAP internal systems, sample data, or demo systems. Any resemblance to real data is purely coincidental

Environment

  • SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central
  • Position Management

Resolution

You need to set 2 permission roles at least for the manager to be able to create this requirement scenario, follow above instructions:

  1. In one permission role set to view position:

    PositionViewAccess.png

  2. In the same permission role set the target population to include access to All position in the hierarchy below the granted user's as following:

    PositionTarget1.png

  3. In the second permission role set the Field Level Permission from your desire (In my example I will restrict access to: Job Code, Location, Change Reason, Business Unit and Division):

    PositionFieldLevel.png

  4. In the second permission role now set the target population to All positions as following:

    PositionTarget2.png

Result: As you can see in the below image, logged manager can see his and subordinates division and location, but it can't see for his higher level position:
