Symptom

  • Running command 'kill spid# with force' terminates ASE immediately and unexpectedly
  • Log entries include a 'stack overflow' , 'Spinlocks held' message and a stack trace including function sy_kill_task

    • Process id 123 killed by Hostname , Host process id 27609.

    • Spinlocks held by kpid 123456789
      Spinlock fglockspins , SSQLCACHE_SPIN (others could be seen)

    • Stack overflow detected: limit: 0x0x00007dd2668940d0, guardpage: ....
      *** Stack corrupted, server aborting.

      with stack trace including

      sy_kill_task
      monbacktrace
      ullocktrace
