2905886 - Error: Depreciation method ABC still used in fixed asset DEF at company GHI

Symptom

You are getting the error: "Depreciation method ABC still used in fixed asset DEF at company GHI", when trying to update the change project system in the test system using the option Update Project from Production.

ABC means the Depreciation Method.

DEF means the fixed asset.

GHI means the Company ID.

Environment

SAP Business ByDesign

Reproducing the Issue

  1. Go to Business Configuration work center and select Implementation Projects view.
  2. Select the relevant change project and then choose Actions.
  3. In the Actions, Choose Update Project from Production.
  4. You will get the error "Depreciation method ABC still used in fixed asset DEF at company GHI".

Cause

The merge is prevented by a veto check which is based on a changed depreciation method. Once a Depreciation Method is used in a fixed asset, it cannot be changed any more.

The veto check will raise an error even if you have changed any flag under the tab Calculated Parameters.

Resolution

Revert the changes which you have done in Depreciation Method and then try to merge the Project.

If all the parameters of Depreciation method in test tenant match with the Production system, then the merge will be successful.
