Symptom
This KBA explains the steps to Configure and use the Half pay and Double pay Leave feature that was introduced in the b2005 Release.
- This function provides employees with more flexibility when requesting a leave. If an employee has insufficient balance left in their time account, they can take half pay leave, meaning only half the usual balance will be deducted while they receive half their usual salary when on leave.
- Or if an employee needs more money for vacation, they can request double pay leave, meaning double the number of leave days will be deducted but they will receive double their usual salary
Prerequisites :
- The EC Time system has been integrated with EC Payroll.
- The replication of absences from Time to Payroll has been setup
Note : It is intended to be used for payroll purposes – and not to influence only deduction on time accounts.

Environment
- SAP SuccessFactors HXM Suite - b2005
- SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central -b2005
Resolution
- In Configure Object Definitions -> Absence Counting Method , set the visibility of the deductionFactor field to Editable.
- Create a time types with unit Days, and assign an absence counting method with the relevant deduction factor and set the calculation method for the absence counting method as Work Schedule:
Example :For Half pay leave: deduction factor = 0.5 (This value should be set to 2 for Double pay Leave)
The snapshot below highlights the Absence counting method that is assigned to the Time type that has been created
- On the Time type, set the duration display to Deduction Quantity
- Assign the time types to a time profile, and make them available in Employee Self-Service (ESS)
- Now, when an absence for 1 day is requested with the Time Type : TT_Half, only 0.5 days will be deducted.
Note : Deduction factor is a number that influences the deduction quantity of an absence. If you enter a number say 0.5, the final deduction quantity will be multiplied by 0.5. For example, If you apply for a 5 days leave, your deduction quantity would be reduced to 5 * 0.5 = 2.5 days, provided the final deduction quantity after applying all the counting rules is 5.
