2909016 - Automatically Remove Nominated Successor if that User Becomes Incumbent

Symptom

With this feature, when an employee, who was nominated as a successor to a position becomes the incumbent, the system will automatically remove that employee from the successor list for this position. This enhancement automates the process of identifying successors who become incumbents and then removing them from the successor list. By selecting this option, you can optimize your succession process and relieve your talent planners of the manual steps otherwise required.

Cause

Resolution

This feature only applies to Successors that become Incumbents when the position is manually updated via the Edit Position option on the Succession Org Chart or via the Position Import. The Position Sync will not automatically remove Successors when they become incumbent of position.

This will only be effective on Successors that become Incumbents after enabling this feature. It will not retroactively remove Successors that became incumbents prior to the option being enabled.  Successors who become the incumbent of the position they are nominated to will be marked as “Succeed” and automatically removed only if there is a change on the Position Object itself during the change.  The change on the Position Object is what triggers the “Automatically remove nominated successor if that user becomes incumbent” to execute.

When removing the employee from the successor list, the nomination is actually changed to a "Succeed" status, which will prevent the nomination from appearing in the Succession Org Chart, but it will still allow you to report on this nomination. With this, a record of "Succeed" history type is also inserted in the Nomination History records.

Please see this Wiki for more information of the Nominations Set Up page.

Note: This feature is not supported for systems with Employee Central enabled and should not be enabled.
