2911276 - Data Source Missing When Editing Extension Field

You have created an extension field (PDI or KUT) and you would like to add it to a data source. However when you are in the adaptation screen, the data source you are looking for is not offered.

1. Log on to your system or the SDK studio.
2. Navigate to the field and edit it (in the adaptation mode, if you are in the system).
3. In the further usage details, go to the 'Data Sources and Reports' tab.

Here you will either see no data sources, or the one you are looking for is missing from the list.

There are 3 potential causes:

1. When you create an extension field (PDI or KUT) and try to add it to a data source, the system checks the business context of the field (i.e. on which screen it was created) and the access context of each data source. Only those data sources whose context matches the context of the extension field will be listed and available to be extended. In your case, the data source you are looking for and the extension field have different business context and they cannot be matched.
2. Even if the business contexts match, some data sources are not extensible with key figures. An extension field will be a key figure, if it is of type Amount, Quantity or Decimal.
3. Some data sources are not extendible for technical reasons, so no extension field can be added to them irrespective of the business context of the field.

1. Please create your field in another business context. For example, if you require to see your extension field in account related data source, check if you can use the Account - Overview section. If you would like a particular data source to be enabled for extension in a new business context, you can make use of the Influence Session to suggest such an enhancement.
2. This is the correct behavior. You can see more details in the KBA 1628631 - Extension Fields of Type Amount, Quantity or Decimal Cannot be Assigned to a Data Source/Report.
3. You can request an enhancement of the product by logging your requirement on the Influence Portal.
