Symptom
You're trying to make a complete scrapping of a Low Value Asset AB, but this is not successful. (AB represents Fixed Asset ID).
Environment
SAP Business byDesign
Reproducing the Issue
- Go to the Work center Fixed Assets.
- Go to the View Fixed Assets.
- Search for Fixed Asset AB.
- Select Manual Postings.
- Select Complete scrapping.
You notice that the Fixed Asset AB is still in status "Capitalized", but you expect it is in status "Retired".
Cause
Fixed Asset AB is flagged as Low Value Asset for the German Tax Set of Books.
If any of the following conditions (mentioned below) are met, then the retirement transaction is NOT posted for valuation view DE001. (DE001 represents the valuation view for the German Tax Set of Books).
- The valuation view's code (in set of books configuration) is equal to DE0010.
- The low value asset flag is set to true (under Master Data -> Life Cycle Data).
- Depreciation method for the valuation view configured on the fixed asset is NOT equal to "0100".
- The net book value as on the posting date of the retirement (including the to-be-posted depreciation values till that date) is NOT zero (if the other valuation views have the same master data settings and same postings, you can see this easily in the retirement transaction: if the retirement transaction's journal entry contains a "Loss from scrapping" line then the net book value is not zero as on the retirement transaction date).
Only if one of the above conditions are not true, then the retirement transaction is posted for the valuation view.
Resolution
In most of the cases it is the net book value that is not zero at the time of scrapping, then the retirement transaction is not posted for for this valuation view.
To post the retirement transaction for the valuation view for the German Tax Set of Books, change the depreciation method to 0100. Then you can scrap the Low Value Fixed Asset also for Valuation View DE0010 and Set of Books German Tax.
