Symptom

You wish to understand why an Integration Center inbound job with starting entity ExternalLearner is not completing successfully. The event log points to an unsupported feature: batch upsert

Reproducing the Issue

Process an Integration Center job with ExternalLearner as starting entity as follows:

Cause

Currently Batch Upserts are not supported for External User.

Batch Upserts are not supported for External User, the reason being the system will always upsert one external user at a time to the database, thus causing a delay.

There are no plans currently to speed up these jobs or support batch upserts, so if you have a strong business scenario, we would advise you raise an enhancement request:

Resolution

Change the Integration Center job Operation from Upsert - Multiple to Upsert - Single, which will allow success of records even if some records fail. (more information on OData Operations and Purge Types at KBA 2670250)
