2918177 - Dunning Runs are Generating Reminder Letters instead of Dunning Letters for Dunning Level 1

You have executed the Dunning Run for invoices with overdue for Dunning Level 1 and system generates Reminder Letter instead of a Dunning Letter.

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Receivables Work Center.
2. Go to the Dunning View.
3. Select a Dunning ID with In Preparation status.
4. Click on Preview button and select Dunning Letter.
5. You will see that a Reminder Letter is being generated whereas an invoice with a long time overdue has been selected.

The issue is due to the Dunning level 1 was not marked as Legally Effective in Dunning Strategies activity whereas it was marked as Dunning Notice Legally Effective in the Form Template Selection. Hence, system is selecting the first item Dunning Level 00 which is not marked as Legally Effective and createing the Reminder Letter rather than Dunning Letter.

Generally, when you execute the Dunning Run for the first time, system will go to Dunning Level 0 and will generate a Reminder Letter. Once the Reminder Letter is issued, the last Dunning date is set against the particular invoice and when you execute the Dunning Run again, it will go to the Level 1, following the sequence:

Dunning Level 0: Reminder Letter
Dunning Level 1: Dunning Letter

To check the Configuration:

1. Go to the Business Configuration work center.
2. Go to the Fine-Tune activities.
3. Search for activity: Dunning Strategies.
4. Click on Edit Dunning Strategies.
5. Select the Dunning Strategy.
6. Click on tab: Assigned Business Transactions to Be Dunned.
7. Legally Effective check box was not selected for Dunning level 1.

To check Form Template Selection:

1. Go to the Application and User Management work center.
2. Go to the Form Template Selection view.
3. Show Rules For: Dunning Letter.
4. We can see that Form Template:Dunning Letter marked as legally effective.
5. Dunning Notice Legally Effective check box was selected for Dunning Level 1.

Kindly change the settings either in the Dunning strategies in Business Configuration or in the Form Template Selection.

To change settings in Dunning Strategies:

1. Go to the Business Configurtion work center.
2. Go to the Fine-Tune activites.
3. Search for activity: Dunning Strategies.
4. Click on Edit Dunning Strategies.
5. Select the Dunning Strategy.
6. Click on tab: Assigned Business Transactions to Be Dunned.
7. Select Legally Effective check box for Dunning level 1.

You need to create new Dunning Run to show preview the Dunning Letter for Dunning Level 1.
