2919282 - Error When Uploading Manual Tax Entry - G/L account ABC does not exist or is not permitted

When trying to upload a Manual Tax Entry using Microsoft Excel the error  "G/L account ABC does not exist or is not permitted" appears. 

SAP Business ByDesign

1. Go to the Tax Management work center.
2. Open the VAT Entries view.
3. Click New - Tax Entry from Microsoft Excel.
4. Enter the required data based on business requirements.
5. Switch to the SAP Business ByDesign tab and log on.
6. Click Save Data To.

At this point, the following error message appears: “G/L account ABC does not exist or is not permitted.”

The Excel template requires the Account Determination Group, not the General Ledger account itself.

There are two ways to identify the Account Determination Group:

Option A) Via the Tax Management Work Center

1. Go to the Tax Management work center.
2. Open the VAT Entries view.
3. Click New - Tax Entry,
4. In the G/L Account field, you can view the list of available Account Determination Groups.

Option B: Via Fine-Tuning in Business Configuration

1. Access the Charts of Accounts, Financial Reporting Structures, Account Determination fine-tune activity.
2. Under Account Determination choose Edit Account Determination Groups.
3. Under General Ledger, there are three categories:

• • Groups for Other Income
  • Groups for Other Current Assets
  • Groups for Other Liabilities

On the right-hand side, you can see the Group ID and the Available in Other Transactions column. Only Group IDs marked as Available in Other Transactions can be used for manual tax postings.
