2919395 - Error: Employee XXX not staffed on project YYY When Adding Time Sheets

Symptom

You are unable to add time sheets, even though your organizational unit has been assigned to the project. An error occurs.

Error: Employee XXX (where XXX is the employee) not staffed on project YYY (while YYY is the project).

Reproducing the Issue

The issue can be reproduced in the Home work center:

  1. Go to Home work center
  2. Click on Self-Service Overview
  3. Click on Edit Time Sheet
  4. Click on Add Row
  5. Search for the relevant project
  6. Click on Save and then on Release
  7. Note: Purchase order item for intercompany time record could not be determined. Purchase order item obligatory for intercompany time recording.

The same error can be reproduced in Time Administration work center:

  1. Go to Time Administration work center
  2. Click on Employees view
  3. Click on Edit
  4. Go to Employee Times Tab
  5. Click on Add Row
  6. Enter start date, end Date, and the relevant time type
  7. Click on Labor Information
  8. Enter task description
  9. Click on Action > Activate
  10. The following warning appears at the bottom: Purchase order item for intercompany time record could not be determined.

Cause

The cause why you are seeing this message is because the org unit should be set as a functional unit to allow project time recording in this manner.

Resolution

You can see this in the Org Management work center by going to the Function tab. Once it has been flagged, you should be able to record the times as outlined.
