2919614 - Is it possible to replicate the same absence data for same employee to two different target systems?

Symptom

You wish to send the same timesheet absence data from SAP SuccessFactors EC to two target systems (e.g. an S/4 HANA system and an SAP ERP system). When setting up the replication configuration for the second system, an error similar to the following arises: "The assignments you made for the current configuration conflict with the assignments in configuration "[existing configuration ID]" and lead to ambiguous results. Please make sure that the assignments are unique for each configuration"

Resolution

In the standard, two "Data Replication Configurations" cannot be created for the same "replication content type" (in this case, the "Employee Absence Data")

The reason for this is, once an absence is replicated successfully to one target system (e.g. SAP ERP) and a confirmation message brings back the status, the relevant entry will be deleted from the "Data Replication Proxy" object. Therefore the same absence record for the same employee cannot be replicated into 2 different target systems.

Hint: SAP is recommending to use point to point (P2P) replication instead of middleware based solution (when its possible) as P2P offers more features and no middleware involvement is required.
